If you see a popup message saying your computer is infected, locked, or needs immediate attention, stop and do not interact with it. Many of these messages are designed to create urgency and push you into taking action quickly.

Do not call the number on the screen. Do not click the buttons. Do not allow remote access to your computer.

This is one of the most common ways people end up giving control of their system to someone they do not know.

What to Do Instead
